2 months old!!!

I can't believe that Kayleigh is already 2 months old. The time has really flown by. She'll go to the doctor on Thurday for her next appointment and get a round of shots. Yikes! I am NOT looking forward to this visit, and now that I can drive, I have to take her by myself. I'm afraid we'll both be crying by the end of the visit.
I put on her two pictures so you can see the difference between one month and 2. Notice that her eyes are open. That's one change. She's definitely more awake and more alert now, and likes to follow things with her eyes. She's also smiling a lot more now. That's my favorite trick of her so far.

A new baby!

Taylor Elyse Villacampa arrived at 5:51 PM Central time. I was wrong before saying that Robyn had pitocin in order to induce labor. She really just had her water broken, and labor came on by itself. Unfortunately, Robyn's labor was like mine--she pushed for 2 hours and then was told that she would have to have a c-section. Taylor did NOT want to come out of mommy's tummy, and I guess got wedged into Robyn's pelvis. She did have to be on oxygen for a little while, and is now under the biliruben lights for jaundice. Her number was 7.1, which isn't too high, but the doctors are being extra careful with their little one.
We can't wait to meet her!!

We're going to have another niece!!

It's kind of a long story, but I'll start with this...my sister-in-law is in labor right now. She and my brother live in Mobile, Alabama, and their baby is due August 6th. Her name will be Taylor and hopefully she'll be joining us today. Taylor has decided to not grow much these last couple of weeks, and Robyn's girly doctor said that she might do better outside of the womb than in. Nick and Robyn went to the hospital last night to check in. At some point this morning, the doctor broke Robyn's water, and so far she's been contracting without pitocin. I'll update with details soon.

We're off!

Erik, Kayleigh and I are leaving in the morning for the Eikeland family vacation in Tennessee. We'll be close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. This will be the furthest that Kayleigh has traveled, and hopefully she'll do well in the car. We're going to be gone for a week, so don't stop reading the blog since I probably won't update until after we're back.
Erik and I are going to get to see Godmother Drew and her husband Michael. They moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at the end of May, right before Kayleigh was born. I'm not sure that the godmother is supposed to move away right before the birth, but Michael got a job and they had to move out of their house that they were renting. I'm really looking forward to catching up with them, and I know Drew is excited about meeting Kayleigh.
At some point next weekend (27-29), Erik and I will drive down to St Pete. I know it's crazy how much we are going to be driving around, but Jonathan, Chat and Mia (brother, sister-in-law and niece), Joanne and Jack (great aunt and uncle) will be in town that weekend, and Barbara and Jack (aunt and uncle) will be back in town after their trip to Australia to visit my cousin. I can't wait to see everyone, so this is a special treat for me. Luckily, I don't have to work that next Monday, otherwise I'd be EXHAUSTED!!!

Smiles for my daddy

These are too cute! I caught Kayleigh smiling at Erik last night, and was glad to get a couple of good pictures.

I think I'll stay...

I am really enjoying my time here in St Pete. For the first couple of nights, we had Kayleigh sleeping more than she was awake. That was quite the accomplishment. Last night we had a rough night, but I think she had a tummy ache. After she made quite the diaper, she went to sleep. I also have to understand that she's not going to have great nights every night, and having two good nights to one bad night isn't so bad.
I have taken naps each day that I've been here. On Wednesday I slept for 3 hours, Thursday was 2+, but they were right after I woke up (!), and today I slept for another 2 hours. Kayleigh and I really needed the nap after having our long night last night. I feel bad because I keep falling asleep instead of staying awake and being social. The best part is that we're not at my house where I feel like I need to entertain. I would feel bad falling asleep on my mom if we were in Tallahassee, but since I'm the guest here, I can do whatever I want and not feel guilty. Ahhh...Like I said, I think I'll stay.
Erik will drive down tonight after work. It'll be nice to have him around, and I think he's missed having us girls up with him. Kayleigh has started smiling more this week, and hopefully she'll greet him with a big grin.

Sip & See

Last night (Monday), Shirley had a "Sip and See" party so that some of her friends could meet Kayleigh. Unfortunately, Kayleigh wasn't very interested in her party, because she slept right through it! The ladies loved meeting her, though, and didn't even give Shirley a chance to hold her granddaughter!!
Kayleigh and I are now in St Petersburg for the week. My mom came to Tallahassee yesterday to drive us down here. Mom had been in North Carolina with my sister, Valerie, to visit my niece. Our goal for the visit is to teach Kayleigh how to go to sleep at the appropriate hour. She had gotten into the habit of going to sleep at 1 or 2 AM, and then only sleeping until 5 or 5:30. Yikes! Last night, Kayleigh stayed awake while Erik and I visited with my mom. She fell asleep around 11:30 PM, woke up at 3 AM for a feeding, was up about 45 minutes, and then slept again until 6ish. Ahhh!!! Finally, another good night's sleep!
Erik will be down Friday night to hang out for the weekend. We'll go to his grandmother's house so that she and his great aunt can meet Kayleigh. I think that he's going to like the extra sleep he'll get to catch up on this week while we're gone!

Tile floors

Erik and I thought it would be a good idea to tile the kitchen and dining room. Since all of our home improvement projects have been done by Erik, we thought we would continue with that theme. Unfortunately, this is a much bigger project than any of the other ones, and it's taking longer than we expected. Erik hasn't really been able to spend a full day on the project yet, so that's one thing that's slowing us down. I miss having a kitchen and being able to heat up food at home. Here are a couple of pictures of our project so far, and I'll post more when we're done!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Kayleigh is resting up so that she can show off what a good baby she is tonight while we celebrate the 4th with the Giuniperos. Matt Guinipero is in town with his girlfriend, and this will be their first time meeting Kayleigh.

One month check up

Erik and I took Kayleigh to her one month check up this morning. It was hard getting up and going because she only slept for 3 (that's right THREE!!!!) hours last night. I'm not quite sure what her problem was. The doctor said that everything looked perfect. What else could it be?? :) Her measurements are:

head: 15 inches

weight: 10.6 pounds

length: 21 inches

The picture of Kayleigh is her with a penguin that she got from one of the teachers, Anne Priddy. People talk about taking pictures of the baby with something big to see how they grow. I should have taken a picture of Kayleigh with the penguin when she first got it, but I didn't, so we'll start now that she's a month old!

Erik started ripping up the linoleum in the dining room and kitchen last night. He's off for the rest of the week, and we figured this would be the best time for him to do the tile in those two rooms. I'm not usually a lot of help with Erik and his projects, but I think I'll be even less of a help with this one. Hopefully all will go well. I'll post pictures when he finishes this.
