Kayleigh has been pulling up all over the place. When Erik and I were with my parents for Mother's Day, they gave us their little walker thing. Kayleigh has always sat in front of it to push the buttons and play, but has NEVER gotten behind it to try to push it or anything. When we got home from school on Friday, I sat her in front of it to entertain her while I finished packing. All of a sudden I turned areound and saw her standing behind the walker, pushing it across the room! I couldn't believe it! The video is of her walking down the hallway with it. She did a little better on the carpet, but I can't believe that she just decided to get up and do it, and on her birthday of all days!

Second "party"
Valerie and my parents waited until this morning to give Kayleigh gifts. We didn't get to my parents' house until after 10 last night. It would have been too late to try to get good pictures and let Kayleigh enjoy it. Valerie gave Kayleigh a fun new toy. Mom and Dad bought Kayleigh a bunch of cute clothes, a bathing suit cover up, and a really cute towel that looks like a butterfly. I'll have to get a picture of that one. NCS girls, expect to see it Monday!
We didn't really have a party for Kayleigh tonight. It was more like dinner and birthday cake for dessert. Valerie, Mom and I went to a baby shower this afternoon, picked Grandma up afterward, and then came home for dinner. Dad grilled some DELICIOUS steaks and corn on the cob. Instead of baked potatoes, Mom made potato salad. Mom was going to buy a cake, but then Valerie reminded her of her grandmotherly duties--she's supposed to make the grandkid's birthday cake. Not wanting to break tradition so early in Kayleigh's life (is it really a tradition yet???), Mom complied. Aunt Anne will be happy to know that Kayleigh was highly uninterested in making a mess of the cake. She didn't want anything to do with it. She did enjoy some icing and ice cream, and eventually ate part of a cupcake.
While Mom and I took Grandma home, Kayleigh's sugar high kicked in, and she was all over the place. That meant another late night for her--it was almost 10 PM when she crashed and burned!
Birthday party
Kayleigh had a good first birthday. Erik switched her carseat to forward facing on Thursday night, so she got to ride to school facing the front. After I started driving with her I started to worry that she might get car sick. I didn't know what it would be like for her to all of a sudden see her world coming at her like that. She survived either way.
Kayleigh's first first birthday party (does that make sense?) was at her school. I cut up a bunch of fruit for a fruit salad and made miniature blueberry muffins for the kids. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the kids ate for about 10 minutes and then were up and ready to play. So, it wasn't a long party, but enjoyable none the less.

12 months of pictures
The day has finally arrived. Kayleigh is one year old! I can't imagine my life without her in it. Why didn't you moms out there tell me how great it would be! (Obviously I have forgotten the delivery, recovery and long nights!) I am amazed at how much she has grown in the past year. I think you can see the biggest difference between her 1 and 2 month pictures. As you look through the slide show, you can put your mouse over the picture, and it will tell you what month you're looking at.
Kayleigh will have a little birthday party at school, and then we're driving to St Pete tonight for almost a week. My mom, sister and I are going to a baby shower on Saturday for a high school friend. It'll be my first week of summer, so I am going to stay and play for a few days. Erik will come down with us, and then drive back here to Tallahassee with his parents.

New toy
A smile for the camera...
And one for Daddy!
I was actually just trying to get a picture of Kayleigh in her new bow, but when she starting playing the piano, too, I couldn't resist getting a video of it! She loves this new piano. It's an early birthday present, as is the bow. Sorry, Robyn, if you were really going to get her some. Erik has wanted to get her wearing bows for some time now. (Probably since he saw pictures of her in Mobile and how cute Taylor's bows were in her hair!) I just couldn't find any good ones that she would let me put in her hair. It's still quite the process--she has to be held down, and you should have seen how red her face was from trying to fight me off. Hopefully the end product was worth it, and it doesn't bother her once it's in. I think we just need to toughen up her scalp. (right, mom??) When Kayleigh finished playing with her piano earlier, she would toss it upside down. We're afraid that she is going to be into rock music with the way she was performing for us! P.S. Allison--I finally went to Once Upon A Child to get the bows! I should have listened to you and gone there first!

I've been tagged!
have been tagged by my friend Kelli and sister Valerie so here are seven random things about myself...
1. I am doing this rather than real work at school. Shh! Don't tell!!
2. Here's something random and gross...When I get really worn out, AKA I don't get enough sleep and have to do stuff like work (not like when I was at home with Kayleigh last semester) I get a huge, disgusting pimple just below the right side of my bottom lip. (I just got one which is why I thought of that!)
3. I LOVE exclamation marks!!!
4. Animal Planet is one of my favorite channels, and the main reason is that it always had a show on at 3:00 and 4:00 AM when I was up with Kayleigh. (Thank goodness she now sleeps through the night!)
5. One of my favorite treats when I was pregnant was milkshakes, either from Chik-Fil-A or Steak N Shake. I don't think Erik knows how many of those I bought, and I still sneak one every now and then. Again, don't tell! (I did end up having to switch to store bought ice cream because my obsession was getting costly at the end of my pregnancy.)
6. I spend waaaaaay too much time playing the game Collapse on my cell phone! It kills my battery, but I'm obsessed, and won't stop playing until I beat it!
7. I avoided doing this when I saw it on Kelli's blog because I thought it would be hard, but I did it really quickly! I guess that makes me random...
I double-tag Robyn and Molly, and tag Allison and Chaille to give 7 random things about themselves. It's really fun if you can think of 7 things!

Pool party!
I took this picture through the french doors. It's so fun to watch them together!
Kayleigh still looks happy...
It wasn't exactly a "party". Erik and I bought Kayleigh this cute pool at Wal-Mart. (We're spending too much money there!) We thought she would love it since she loves bath time so much. We think the water was too cold, because she was climbing over us to get out of it! I was faster and grabbed the camera, so I got to take the pictures instead of having them taken of me. Who's really looking at Erik or me, anyway??? :)

More teeth!!!
If you're a good blog reader, you have checked out the bigger picture of Kayleigh from the last post and have seen her two teeth. Erik and I know that her top middle teeth are going to come in any day now. Earlier, I had my finger in Kayleigh's mouth to see if I felt any new teeth. I was VERY surprised to feel a tooth on the wrong side of my finger! Kayleigh is getting in a bottom middle tooth! She's growing up too quickly!

More crawling
Getting under the exersaucer
Can you see her two teeth?? Her upper middle teeth are also starting to come in, although they haven't broken through the gums yet. I bet she has them by her birthday! If you can't see them well, click on the picture to enlarge it, and I guarantee you'll see them!
I had to post these pictures because Kayleigh was cracking me up this afternoon. The first time she crawled under something was this weekend at my parents' house. She was able to get under the couch, and crawled under it and the ottoman. For those of you that know my parents' house, it was the living room (white) furniture. For those of you that don't know, the couch legs bring it up off of the floor about as high as the exersaucer. Anyway, Kayleigh was able to get underneath and out from below the exersaucer by herself! She is coming up with some neat tricks lately!
Mother's Day
I think I should probably tell about the pictures, first. I know that Aunt Anne told me to never post naked pictures of Kayleigh, but she's too cute to let her get away with it!! She ALWAYS tries to get away from me after I get her out of the tub! These were the only pictures that we took on Sunday. I don't know why I didn't ask to have Mother's Day pictures taken. Oh well. There will be more, I guess. (Both pictures and Mother's days!!!) Kayleigh is learning how to share. She's kind of a tease about it, really. She'll hold the object out to you, but won't always let go! She usually wants it right back, so I'm not sure she fully understands the concept of sharing. :) My parents were cutting up a banana for Kayleigh for breakfast, but as you can see, they got lazy about it and soon just gave her the whole thing!
I had a fabulous first Mother's Day. It really wasn't that exciting, but Erik listened to me and got me a gift certificate for a massage! Woohoo! That was enough to make that day perfect! Erik, Kayleigh and I drove to St Pete this weekend to visit family. I wanted to go down to see my abuelo (grandpa) who was there visiting my parents. On Sunday, mom made french toast for breakfast. Then we went to Sunday School. Erik and I kept Kayleigh with us and ended up in the back of the room with her playing because she doesn't want to sit still anymore. After church we went to Barbara and Jack's house (my aunt and uncle) for lunch. My grandma, cousin and family were all there for lunch as well. After stuffing our faces with some delicious food (Thanks again, Barbara!!) we headed over to visit Granny and Aunt Ola. Whew! It was a busy day, but it's what we wanted to do, so there are no complaints.

Muffins with Mommy
I have to say that I am so disappointed this morning. Kayleigh's school was having a little breakfast for Mother's Day this morning. I had it all set up so that I could eat with her. When Kayleigh gets up in the morning, I just turn on her closet light to change her diaper and get her dressed. Then, I take her to the bathroom to fix her hair, because it's always crazy in the morning. When I did her hair, I realized that there was goo all over both of her eyes! I don't know if it's pink eye or a cold/sinus issues that is in her eye. So, once again, Erik stayed home with Kayleigh and I sadly drove myself to school.

At last!!!
I have been afraid to say anything, because I fear that if I do I'll jinx myself. Kayleigh has been mostly sleeping through the night for about the last 3-4 weeks. There are a couple of nights here and there when she will wake up, but for the most part she stays asleep from 7:30-8:00 until I get her up around 6:50 AM. I worried that Kayleigh would never sleep through the night on her own! On the plus side, Erik always takes on night duty.
Tonight, I rocked Kayleigh to sleep like I always do. She was only asleep for a couple of minutes when I put her in her crib. As I started out the door, she woke up and started to sit up and smile at me. I quickly ran out of the room, and....she put herself back to sleep!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!! For parents that never did the "cry it out" method this was a big deal.

11 month pictures
I guess I figured since the last post was so long I would do another one with her pictures. Unfortunately, she was much more interested in the camera than Mumble. She even figured out how to open and close the flash! I better keep an eye on this girl!
She is naked because she had just finished eating dinner and I changed her diaper. Yes, I could have re-dressed her, but don't forget how messy babies get when they feed themselves!
Did I tell you that Kayleigh started playing peek-a-boo? Did I tell you that this week she played it by covering up her eyes with her hands?? This kid is AMAZING! She can also nod her head, which I guess is something advanced for her age.
P.S. Look at how long her legs are! I keep looking at her and realizing how big she's getting!!
P.P.S. Are you happy now, Anne?? :)
